Dear Robins,
Barb sent this to me for posting back in March and I was busy and then forgot until I saw Sarah's posting today. Thanks for the news cousins. Susie
We just returned from S. California and spent 10 days with Dad and my
sister Sue in early March.
Dad (Uncle Loren) is now 98+ and still living independently. He and Mary
have a nice apartment in Hillcrest Retirement Center in LaVerne. The unit
they have can also provide assisted living help when it is needed without
them having to move. They just celebrated their 5th Anniversary Feb 25.
Dad is becoming more frail all the time and sometimes mentally confused.
The dcotors say he is beginning congestive heart failure. However he was
pretty good when we left March 15. They both use walkers when walking
outside except going to church.
Their eyesight is the worst problem. Neither of them can read without a
magnifying glass so Dad had my brother-in-law take over writing checks and
paying bills. Otherwise they still function fairly well.
Sue and Bob live in LaVerne and help them a lot. They are both retired
fro teaching and spend lots of time with 5 grandchildren also in LaVerne
and volunteer at the church and the college. They also travel a lot.
They just returned from an Eco-Whale Watching in Mexico and are planning a
trip to Ireland and Scotland later this year.
Don and I are doing well in Wenatchee and keep sucy with garden, golf,
fishing etc. We had hoped to drive to Alaska this summer again but the
cost of diesel fuel makes that impossible. If any of you want to visit
Washington we love company and have 2 guest rooms.
I would love an up-date on Uncle Ed also.
Love, Cousin Barbara Bowman MIller
