We were blessed to not be traveling this year and have Shannon's mom Linda Manzonelli in from Winter Park, FL and my mom Karen and step-father Glenn Bell in from Atlanta. Shannon cooked an amazing turkey (her first) thanks to careful brining and preparation. I cooked a leg of lamb that reminded me of my Thanksgivings growing up where my grandfather Fletcher would cook and amazing leg of lamb each year. I also made a great oyster stuffing that I've been working on for the past 5 years or so.
The weather has been amazing lately in Northwest Arkansas and we were able to sit outside and enjoy a mid-60's afternoon following our Thanksgiving meal. For Black Friday (or Blitz as retailers call it - the press hasn't caught on), we took a long (5mi RT) family walk to our Walmart to see what was going on. Our guests are staying until Monday so were going to go get a Christmas tree today so that everyone can enjoy Mary Catherine decorating the tree.
We're also now firmly ensconced in watching as much sports as humanly possible. Yesterday was fantastic as Duke handily beat Dusquesne and Arkansas beat LSU in the final football game of their season in the closing seconds. We're looking forward to all the big games today.
Christmas will find us in Atlanta along with my sister Heather, brother David and his wife Holly who are expecting a little boy in April. We hope everyone is having a relaxed holiday. Look forward to seeing your updates soon.
