Sarah and Remley Celebrate 20 Years!

Dear Robins,
We have been so happy to have the good news from Susie and Chip’s growing family and also about their move to Asheville. It’s beautiful up there and I know the girls will be delighted to have them near……and that includes Isabelle!!
We did make our trip to DC for the Elderhostel (now Road Scholar) and we have enjoyed these kinds of learning/exploring trips. They’re offered all over the world. You meet many interesting and interested folks from all over and it is now the policy that the age you can attend is 21+ rather than the 50+ before.  Also, they offer inter-generational  trips, for you and your grandchildren (those of you fortunate enough to have them).  We went to the usual memorials, the Smithsonian, and the Capitol, as well as heard lectures on the Supreme Court, immigration reform, environment and energy, campaign finance reform (good luck with THAT) and ‘new media, technology and the Syria crisis.’  We also went to Saudi Arabia…..well…..their embassy, which, technically, IS Saudi Arabia….which was very interesting indeed.  Remley’s Vietnam Army  group (A Troop 4/12 Cavalry Div.) had a good get-together and a participated in a touching memorial at the Wall.
Governor Thomas Bennett House
We celebrated 20 (!) years of marriage in September.  As some of you know, we had a surprise wedding at a party we were giving, and now every five years we repeat the celebration.  This year it was at the Governor Thomas Bennett House, one block from our house. (insert photo of house)  Nothing else in our neighborhood looks like this, needless to say. Most houses are arts and crafts styles (sometimes called craftsman), or Charleston single houses.   Still, it was a perfect setting for a party! (insert other two photos)

I’m still enjoying taking classes at the College of Charleston. I had Spanish, then American Vernacular Architecture & Material Culture, and now, philosophy. It’s so much fun to go to class just for the joy of learning and without the stress of worrying about grades and exams.  Remley is still working and involved in lots of things with his business leads group and the boards of the Harbour Club and the College Cougar Club.
We are always  delighted when anyone takes time to add to the Robin blog. Thanks again to Susie for setting this up!
